Hebra Kadisha
Our mission
The Hebrá Kadishá is in charge of giving all the Jews of the Community of Madrid the services of their traditional functions, with the same dedication, within the orthodox tradition of our kehilá, and always in accordance with the Halajá, under the direction of the Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Madrid.
The main purposes and attributions of the Hebrá Kadisha are:
Visit the sick at the request of their relatives and establish the necessary stays.
Organize and direct funeral services and funeral services, within the orthodox tradition of kehilah and with the advice of the Rabbi.
Take care of cemeteries.
Attend family ceremonies, when all or a representation of its members are invited: Berberisca Night (Bride), Brit Mila, Fadas (Daughter's nomination), etc.
Participate and organize the traditional community festivals of Hilulá, preparation of Charoset, Kiddush for the sukkah on Yom-tov days.
And, not least, increase the Chesed in our Kehilah, and that is why our institution receives the full name of Hebrá Kadisha and Gemilut Hasadim.
The Community has two cemeteries: its own enclosure in the La Almudena Civil Cemetery and a Jewish Cemetery in the municipality of Hoyo de Manzanares.
